Resource Access Control Facility (RACF)

Resource Access Control Facility (RACF) is the security software used to secure
mainframe resources. Employees who want to become
a State Agency RACF Administrator must complete RACF 1 and RACF 3 classes.
RACF 1 Class-User ID / Password & Group
User ID / Password & Group class provides RACF basics identifying each
data field, what the field controls or relates, and the relationship between system
options; User IDs, passwords and groups. The class does not cover how to write RACF
commands to create profiles or reset passwords. Information covered will help new
users obtain an understanding of RACF methodologies and implementation. No prerequisites
required.
RACF 2 Dataset & General Resources
Dataset & General Resources provides RACF basics, identifies each data
field and what the field controls or relates and the relationship between system
options, datasets and general resources. The class does not cover how to write RACF
commands to create profiles or reset passwords. Information covered will help new
users obtain an understanding of RACF methodologies and implementation. Prerequisite:
'RACF I User ID / Password & Group' class.
RACF 3 Class RACF Hands On
RACF Hands On provides the RACF commands and
panels necessary to administer and monitor RACF. Prerequisite: RACF I User ID / Password
& Group.
RACF 4 – VANGUARD Hands on
VANGUARD Hands on provides the VANGUARD actions
necessary to create reports to monitor RACF
implementation. Instructions are also provided to
use VANGUARD for large changes in the RACF database.
Scheduling/RACF Training Location
Classes are held in the Folsom Administration
Bldg, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, and scheduled weekly for three
consecutive weeks. For RACF questions or to request individual
